I'm not sure if this is the right place to post stuffs like this, please tell me if it isn't.

I somehow walked into these locations.
But I can't find any infomation about them on the internet. Can anyone tell what these places are?

Game downloaded from dotflow.wikidot.com
(English ver. 0.192)

(The red area seems to be called Sculpture World,
found the name on another wiki, but other than the name, there's nothing.)

I accidently loaded an old save file, and it gave me *this*.
The moving speed is also much more faster than usual.
Interacting with the objects and characters takes me to locations related to them.

Is that some sort of "Debug Mode"?

Insane necro
The guy found his way into some then-unused maps through the debug room, probably. The maps in question were fully added into the game in ver 0.19 as the vomitgirl area (named after the folder holding said maps). From version 0.193 the maps MAP0280 (pic) and MAP0285 have been in the game in a similar fashion where they can only be accessed via debug or by opening it up with RPGmaker.

Funny detail is how lol_rust really likes putting holes in white hands now. It's the same as the character design for Mimimi, the playable character of Aruma Ketera, who is also lol_rust's vtuber avatar.

I've been playing this game for three years and I refuse to use the wiki or look at any walkthroughs. I love the feeling of slowly picking apart the mysteries on my own. Just a few moments ago I finally found the chainsaw effect. So excited to finally be able to start killing some NPCs!

Ill be starting coding classes soon and in almost a decade my love for Yume Nikki and various fan games has not diminished one bit. My dream is to be able to make my own YN inspired game. I know this means nothing to you as I can't do anything now but I know there are others like me.

I'm rambling, but I'm excited. And I'm excited about the future of fan games. The fact this board is still active is a reason to be positive and happy. Where does everyone think this genre can go? How can it evolve? General fangame love and positivity thread!

 No.14877

Your enthusiasm is cute! I'm glad even after all these years the games are still attracting people, especially 2kki.

That's really cool Anon. I assume you know that most fangames are made in rpgmaker though right? Coding isn't necissary unless you want to build it from scratch or implement unusual features.

>Where does everyone think this genre can go? How can it evolve?

Something I was thinking about to develop the genra is exploring more about the mind than just regular dreams built on memories. Like you could make a game that takes place in the real world from someone with intense hallucinations, or someone who constantly slips into daydreams and the world keeps changing around them, or a psychonaught where the effects are different drugs (as long as it's not made by a 13 year old), or about the dreams of someone incredibly social or who's a devout catholic, or a child god where the world emerges chaotically from his daydreams but is still "real".
I also think there should be some movement away from randomness. I like RNG, but it would also be cool to have events hidden behind cryptic rituals and puzzles that you have to theorise and discuss how to get, like with Siren or (I think) PT.

Good luck! I'm doing something similar, keeping a 2kki inspired project around on the backburner. It's to help me learn sprite art, something I can just throw assets at when I think of something.
I really love seeing these sorts of games pop up.

>psychonaught where the effects are different drugs (as long as it's not made by a 13 year old)

Its funny because I have definitely thought of this. I mention coding only because I am also really inspired by LSD Dream Emulator, So I really like the idea of being in a 3d world. That game has many downsides though and I dont like it as much as Yume Nikki. Besides the 1St person perspective I really like the randomness of the rooms.

So you could do something like maps have slightly different appearances based off the effects you have used recently (which could play into the psychonaut, schizophrenic, daydrreamer angle. Wouldnt be hard for me either). Things like draw distance, color of lights, color of fog, number of sprites, and even textures could change. Among many other things.

I would introduce a lot more dead space though and looping levels, thats all standard.

This is all just theory rn though. Future planning I guess. I actually really like the "randomness", so long as its not "Zomg" random or "you have a 1 on 10 billion chance of this happening" random. I think its OK in moderation but I want to primarily focus on something that provides a unique experience everytime it is interacted with, while still maintaining a cohesive feeling.

Hey everyone, I'm back with a new game! It's Amihailu in Dreamland. It's a fangame (in the sense that you're playing a game that takes place, ostensibly, in a dream, with disjointed area continuity, etc.) I'm making in RPG Maker VX Ace. As of this writing, I'm already up to 0.01. I held off on releasing to Uboachan because we get too many projects here that do not ever get released (though it's much, much worse on tumblr).

Here's a brief summary of this game and my goals with it:
-You play as Amihailu
-You can't leave the dream world and enter at will like in many other fangames
-Many decisions you make will affect the narrative and events in large or small ways
-More event- and puzzle-based than some previous games (Hell Diary included)
-There are no effects in this game, and many of the items are intended to be optional (of course, there's not really a chance to pass them up implemented as of this writing.)

You can get the game here if you'd like to try it out: http://www.mediafire.com/?23yl4dp5hdoudyx

Is this site still alive? Does anybody know anything about this game called "hitori"? It's very similar to Yume Nikki, thought I wouldn't call it a fangame.
There is a single video on Selfish Dream youtube channel about this game, and literally no other information about it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyc_sNCgpY4
Who is the creator? Where is his website? How can I compete the game?

You can always run the game in a virtual machine if you want to be extra safe.

All things considered, unless the developer is actually evil or got a kickback for including spyware, those are very likely false positives.

Since it's been around a year and I still love this game I'll give it a bump. I'll also summarise the above thread into a post.

Hitori plays like an exploration game in the vein of Oimostfonwy: discovering lonely alleys and buildings to find the atmosphere of night in a Japanese suburban sprawl.

People got scared because virustotal gave false positives, even though virustotal is known not to like RPGmaker zipfiles. Even Yume Nikki gets a few false calls.

I don't know why, but I might be the only person who's played and really loves this game.

Except it's not, I'm an old ubuu user and game developer not related to Astralshift, you can ask a mod, sorry to break your bubble but people can say good things about things you don't like.

In addition, what of what I said is false? It is the biggest modern game from that small tumblr community, the game's numbers are huge, it got tons of fanart, love and even some cosplay, that's a lot more than most little RPGM people will ever achieve.

By the way from the looks of it, you guys sure spend a lot of time trying to slam Astralshift, I've only said their game is very relevant and look at the reactions, like the art theft accusation which, after googling I realized it was nothing but a misunderstanding.

Like you're all almighty saints, let me quote Pinkuboa, the owner of the jam, about it:

>it’s not uncommon for the PM team to smack talk others behind their backs.

Isn't that what lots of you do to each other in the confession blogs? Pinkuboa's unprovoked agression against ubuu here >>13387 is a good example.

As I said earlier ITT, PM isn't even my kind of game, I don't like it, it represents everything I am tired of in a "horror RPG", little girls in dresses, cute atmosphere, the sounds, the haunted house, it's all about overused tropes, we have been making fun of that for ages here, but you know what? I think that's precisely why the game was successful and that's all I have been saying.
