I noticed that various threads on /ot/ have autosage. Why?

 No.3728

Nevermind. I noticed that threads don't bump correctly on the catalog. Threads bump normally on the index view.

It would be nice to be able to download files with the source filename (rather than the timestamp). This is especially convenient for music files, whose names (e.g. artist - album - title) tend to be long enough to be partially elided.

I believe NPFChan has this feature by default, or at the very least as a one-click install. Have you considered upgrading?

I thought it would be good to have this thread, because users then will be able to post any bugs they find and report them easily.
Right now I found this problem with banners (pic related). I don't know whether it is a general bug or browser-specified one. I checked all the boards and it seems to be present in all of them.
I'm using Firefox btw.

As many probably know, there is a bug in English Yume Nikki:
You have already all effects found and you go to the place known as FC world and the game crashes and oh no what now.

As the wiki says:
> In some English translations of Yume Nikki, the game may crash when entering an FC world with all effects
But it's not just "some translation",
The bug is actually present in the version which can be downloaded here, from the Uboachan.

Everyone who downloads the game from here will have to fix this by themself.

My suggestion is:
Why not fix this once and upload the fixed version here, to replace the current one?
This way everyone who will download the game will have this problem already solved.

Actually, when I found out about this bug (not much later after I found out about this game) I was surprised that nobody did this yet,

I think Marisa's portable edition of Yume Nikki fixed this problem: https://mega.nz/#!QJtGCbqa!qTpWVlsyXAPf63lAtkWQQqTbBNu1QQtoabWwqyggFf4

What's up ubuus? I have a little suggestion for your site and I figured this board would be the best place to share it.

What would you say to a /4chon/ board for the /4chon/ users who don't have a board to post on?

I personally think it's a good idea and that you should do it. What do you think? All opinions welcome.

I'll post this in here to avoid making an unnecessary thread and because the Uboaru is accessed from the archive. The first page and a half of yume.booru.org is filled with unsightly 3D posts that have no context towards Yume Nikki as far as I can tell from the thumbnails.

Is there anyway to get a revival of the "community ad thread" that's linked to on the rules page? I went to follow it and got a 404. There is another site I would like to "plug" so to speak as I know multiple people that post on there. post here and on sushigirl. I would do it in /ot/ but it doesn't feel like it would fit with everything else going on there.

 No.3685

The thread was moved to >>>/trash/511
Most people there just practiced hit and run advertising, so after some discussion sei gave the greenlight to /trash/ it and archive it.
>There is another site I would like to "plug" so to speak as I know multiple people that post on there. post here and on sushigirl.
You can always do that in existing threads about what sites anons browse like >>>/ot/16099 or start one yourself as long as isn't a discord link advertising graveyard.

After some consideration I decided to sticky a new ad thread on /ot/. Posts in this new thread do not show up in recent posts on the front page – you have to go looking for them. I think this is a good middle ground between having a disruptive ad thread and not having one at all.

I think I posted about this in the other thread(?) but ill chime in again. I've been coming here on and off for probably around 6 years now. I agree with loli being spoilered unless relevent to discussion. I think I would be in favor of all shock images/porn being handled the same way also. I also agree that this is a comfy place that doesn't need to be shit up by garish pictures. don't get me wrong, its not because I have a strong stance against it, I've seen my fair share of gore and scat but there is no reason to unnecessarily dampen another users experience juat because you can't be bothered to spoiler your picture.

I like this place because it is relaxed (do wish it was a bit more popular though, but I doubt this will have too much an effect)

I agree. It strikes me as pretty autistic to demand the ability to post, regardless of the content and tone of the thread, not only porn but a specific and niche subset of porn absolutely anywhere and without restriction.

 No.3674

>>3673
This argument would hold up a lot better if all porn had to be spoilered, but it isn't. Sei explained his reasoning, which I disagree with. Nothing I can do about that, but there's no reason for you to make this about something its not. It's clear to me that you don't value the same things as me, so there isn't any point to this thread anymore. This is the last thing i've got to say.

Some of it already does though. Do you object to the requirement to spoiler guro and gore and keep it where it's relevant? If not, then you're not objecting to the rule you're objecting to something you like being reclassified to fall under that rule.

And just like that, it's been a decade. Somehow I'm not surprised that we're still around, I guess because keeping this place running for as long as possible has always been my intention. 10 years is a nice milestone though, so maybe I'll think of something fun to do with the site.

Late last year, I moved Uboachan to a new server after another website hosted on the same server became infected with viruses. Scans and investigation showed that the infection didn't spread to any other sites, but I set up a new server to be safe. It's needed to happen for a while now anyway; there were software upgrades that couldn't be done in-place on the old OS. We are now running the latest version of Debian, and we've switched HTTP services from Lighttpd to Nginx. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten the Uboachan Archive running with Nginx yet, so that's still broken, but I'll get around to fixing it.

Did you think our co-op scanlation project with Patchy Illusion Team was dead? Think again! About a week ago I bought 10 raw Yume Nikki fan doujins straight from Japan with the help of a generous donor, and shipped them to Patchy Illusion Team's lead scanlator Chesir, who should be receiving them some time in the next few weeks. After that he should have enough material to keep the team busy for a while, while all of the doujins are translated and released. Chesir may need some additional help with this batch, and if so he'll post in the Scanlations Project sticky on /yn/. Expect some teaser photos as well once the doujins arrive from overseas.

The Lost Cities Minecraft Server is also back from the dead, sort of. The map became corrupted, and when recent backups were restored those eventually became corrupted too, leading to the server staying offline for a few months. Eventually we decided to reset the map completely, and hope that the same issue doesn't happen again. However, we're still running the same old plugins, so it should be a similar experience. If anyone's interested, I may be able to package up a working backup of the old map for download, but it's a bit out of date.

Development for the Dream World MUD is on hiatus, but hopefully only for a few months. The server is still up and running, and more features are planned for the future.

Writer continues to be in charge of the moderation staff, while I keep the server and website up and running.

A toast to ten more years!

>I have already made it clear that it's not about loli or guro but rather your explosive derailment that consistently came with those two. Even if the images were kept up, you would still be warned for thread derailment and flamebaiting. Any user can post those two (guro if properly spoiled) and be left off fine.
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Hi, I have a suggestion, change rule 3 back. I have not derailed threads, I have not acted abrasively, and I have not contributed or started flame wars. Loli and shota has zero effect on discussion. It does not derail threads or start flame wars. The quality of posts is simply not effected.

The issue with banning something(or censoring it) because it makes people uncomfortable, is that anything can make anybody uncomfortable. What about what makes me uncomfortable? What if I don't like candles, or horses. What if I have a phobia of insects, does that mean insect pics should be spoilered? Why should what makes "some" "uncomfortable" be prioritized? As for the majority of users being bothered by it, I haven't seen that. 1, 1 post with loli in it has been reported folks. I wonder where this mysterious outrage is coming from, because I just see it. Was there a vote, because I didn't see one.

The fact of the matter is there's absolutely nothing reasonable about this rule change. It is utterly selfish and shows a blatant disregard for the principles of this site or what makes it great.
>dark-but-chill hangout
How does a place that succumbs to this kind of mentality fit that bill?. Tumblr, Steam, 34paheal, they're all going in that direction. Think about what you're doing a little harder and maybe even grow a little thicker skin.

How does everybody else feel? Please lead me your voices. Let's at least discuss this reasonably.

>It depends a lot of how well staff and users communicate. When staff and users start to see a clear division where one side expects to just be understood, without any attempt on their part to hear out the other half, the whole thing starts to crumble in my opinion.

So this has been brought to my attention over the last couple days and man, is it a doozie.

>How does everybody else feel? Please lead me your voices. Let's at least discuss this reasonably.

So far no one but staff has mentioned anything about this, so I'm willing to bet that this is just your single-minded desire.

>Those people don't people don't even fucking lurk here, not even mods, right? That's what I heard over and over again. Their supposed to be a separate community, right?

No users on discord are complaining. Staff members on the site have reached out to me about this. Most of them are the ones with problems with it, as it gets reported.

>I'm a janitor. I can't count the number of times I've deleted a barrage of spam posts at 2 or 3 in the morning. I never took breaks, not on vacation, or when I was sick, or when I had family over. Every day I diligently checked.

A mod (not a janitor, that you are the only one of) on the staff log does almost twice the work as you, and you're now actively contributing to a problem that only you seem to want to continue. Not winning points here. This is just going over a single page spanning a couple months. I'm sure it'd become more disproportionate if I went further back.

>In three days or pleading, not the 100+ people on discord, nor mods, nor writer, nor the fifteen active users here could collectively pull 55 or something dollars together. 9 people would have to give 5 dollars.

While you're at fixing all the problem here, you might as well update the faq. The moderator guidelines pastie is also down.

I'm the staff leader, not the person who can edit the site's static pages. Sei does that, and that page listing staff hasn't been updated in ages. Remember how I said there's a separation between running staff and the backend? Maybe you skimmed that.

3/5ths of those are not accurate in general and as a point in case is that I'm using an owner instead of admin tag while posting.

So yes, I'll fix the problems but not in the way you think it will be.

As far as the "pastie" goes, that was long ago rehosted for the sake of new mods, which you apparently didn't see or care to see, so who knows what that says.

While I'm at it, this is a great example of why we want to fix the rules and make them clearer/less abusable. You're desperate enough to latch onto the most far-field thing to try to a prove a point when other things have been refuted. Just do as we ask for the time being.

 No.3642

I don't really see this as being a very big issue. Personally, I don't like loli, but don't have an issue with people posting it. Having people spoiler those images seems like I great idea in my mind. I don't have to look at it and people can still post it. Honestly it seems like a win-win. And the difference between something like candles and horses compared to loli is that the amount of people offended by that is, almost undoubtedly, smaller than those offended by loli. And again, I agree that people should be able to post it, but what's he big deal with spoilering it?

To clarify, I am not the most active user, but do care deeply for the site. This perfectly crosses my deep love for Yume Nikki with my love for image boards. In fact this was one of the first sites I ever found when I began playing Yume Nikki for the first time. It was love at first site! I have been using this site on and off since then. It's probably been 7 some years since then. Recently I decided to play Yume 2kki and here I am.

Yes it is true we don't want the wrong crowd here (the type offended by everything) but I don't think we're very close to that. All it is is a spoiker, and I think it's also very true that loli can put off certain users, especially newer or younger ones, in the worst possible way. I mean, it doesn't really add anything to the site does it?

 No.3643

>>3642
>younger ones
What do you mean? Are eighteen year olds really that fragile? In retrospect, I probably overreacted. I regret trying to brag about anything. I'm also probably too dependent. Truth be told, I do want a walled garden, but I don't see why that's a bad thing. Do I hate, "younger people"? For the most part, yeah. Everything is terrible now and there has to be some reason for it.

I don't know what course of action to take now. I could start posting spoliered stuff in mass. I do that for ten years, any hypothetical new user will eventually click on one, and if they have that disposition, be put off and leave. Writer and gang will probably change the rules soon enough to keep me from doing that. Other option is stop posting. I know how dead this place can get. YN is getting less and less revlevant with every year. Tranlations and fangames can only keep things sputtering for so long.
