Is rule three no longer under reconstruction and if so, is that final? The red text is gone and it nobody has said anything about it. Could somebody besides myself please express their opinion on this.

I think I posted about this in the other thread(?) but ill chime in again. I've been coming here on and off for probably around 6 years now. I agree with loli being spoilered unless relevent to discussion. I think I would be in favor of all shock images/porn being handled the same way also. I also agree that this is a comfy place that doesn't need to be shit up by garish pictures. don't get me wrong, its not because I have a strong stance against it, I've seen my fair share of gore and scat but there is no reason to unnecessarily dampen another users experience juat because you can't be bothered to spoiler your picture.

I like this place because it is relaxed (do wish it was a bit more popular though, but I doubt this will have too much an effect)

I agree. It strikes me as pretty autistic to demand the ability to post, regardless of the content and tone of the thread, not only porn but a specific and niche subset of porn absolutely anywhere and without restriction.

This argument would hold up a lot better if all porn had to be spoilered, but it isn't. Sei explained his reasoning, which I disagree with. Nothing I can do about that, but there's no reason for you to make this about something its not. It's clear to me that you don't value the same things as me, so there isn't any point to this thread anymore. This is the last thing i've got to say.

Some of it already does though. Do you object to the requirement to spoiler guro and gore and keep it where it's relevant? If not, then you're not objecting to the rule you're objecting to something you like being reclassified to fall under that rule.

And just like that, it's been a decade. Somehow I'm not surprised that we're still around, I guess because keeping this place running for as long as possible has always been my intention. 10 years is a nice milestone though, so maybe I'll think of something fun to do with the site.

Late last year, I moved Uboachan to a new server after another website hosted on the same server became infected with viruses. Scans and investigation showed that the infection didn't spread to any other sites, but I set up a new server to be safe. It's needed to happen for a while now anyway; there were software upgrades that couldn't be done in-place on the old OS. We are now running the latest version of Debian, and we've switched HTTP services from Lighttpd to Nginx. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten the Uboachan Archive running with Nginx yet, so that's still broken, but I'll get around to fixing it.

Did you think our co-op scanlation project with Patchy Illusion Team was dead? Think again! About a week ago I bought 10 raw Yume Nikki fan doujins straight from Japan with the help of a generous donor, and shipped them to Patchy Illusion Team's lead scanlator Chesir, who should be receiving them some time in the next few weeks. After that he should have enough material to keep the team busy for a while, while all of the doujins are translated and released. Chesir may need some additional help with this batch, and if so he'll post in the Scanlations Project sticky on /yn/. Expect some teaser photos as well once the doujins arrive from overseas.

The Lost Cities Minecraft Server is also back from the dead, sort of. The map became corrupted, and when recent backups were restored those eventually became corrupted too, leading to the server staying offline for a few months. Eventually we decided to reset the map completely, and hope that the same issue doesn't happen again. However, we're still running the same old plugins, so it should be a similar experience. If anyone's interested, I may be able to package up a working backup of the old map for download, but it's a bit out of date.

Development for the Dream World MUD is on hiatus, but hopefully only for a few months. The server is still up and running, and more features are planned for the future.

Writer continues to be in charge of the moderation staff, while I keep the server and website up and running.

A toast to ten more years!

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Hi, I have a suggestion, change rule 3 back. I have not derailed threads, I have not acted abrasively, and I have not contributed or started flame wars. Loli and shota has zero effect on discussion. It does not derail threads or start flame wars. The quality of posts is simply not effected.

The issue with banning something(or censoring it) because it makes people uncomfortable, is that anything can make anybody uncomfortable. What about what makes me uncomfortable? What if I don't like candles, or horses. What if I have a phobia of insects, does that mean insect pics should be spoilered? Why should what makes "some" "uncomfortable" be prioritized? As for the majority of users being bothered by it, I haven't seen that. 1, 1 post with loli in it has been reported folks. I wonder where this mysterious outrage is coming from, because I just see it. Was there a vote, because I didn't see one.

The fact of the matter is there's absolutely nothing reasonable about this rule change. It is utterly selfish and shows a blatant disregard for the principles of this site or what makes it great.
>dark-but-chill hangout
How does a place that succumbs to this kind of mentality fit that bill?. Tumblr, Steam, 34paheal, they're all going in that direction. Think about what you're doing a little harder and maybe even grow a little thicker skin.

How does everybody else feel? Please lead me your voices. Let's at least discuss this reasonably.

So this has been brought to my attention over the last couple days and man, is it a doozie.

>How does everybody else feel? Please lead me your voices. Let's at least discuss this reasonably.

So far no one but staff has mentioned anything about this, so I'm willing to bet that this is just your single-minded desire.

>Those people don't people don't even fucking lurk here, not even mods, right? That's what I heard over and over again. Their supposed to be a separate community, right?

No users on discord are complaining. Staff members on the site have reached out to me about this. Most of them are the ones with problems with it, as it gets reported.

>I'm a janitor. I can't count the number of times I've deleted a barrage of spam posts at 2 or 3 in the morning. I never took breaks, not on vacation, or when I was sick, or when I had family over. Every day I diligently checked.

A mod (not a janitor, that you are the only one of) on the staff log does almost twice the work as you, and you're now actively contributing to a problem that only you seem to want to continue. Not winning points here. This is just going over a single page spanning a couple months. I'm sure it'd become more disproportionate if I went further back.

>In three days or pleading, not the 100+ people on discord, nor mods, nor writer, nor the fifteen active users here could collectively pull 55 or something dollars together. 9 people would have to give 5 dollars.

I'm the staff leader, not the person who can edit the site's static pages. Sei does that, and that page listing staff hasn't been updated in ages. Remember how I said there's a separation between running staff and the backend? Maybe you skimmed that.

3/5ths of those are not accurate in general and as a point in case is that I'm using an owner instead of admin tag while posting.

So yes, I'll fix the problems but not in the way you think it will be.

As far as the "pastie" goes, that was long ago rehosted for the sake of new mods, which you apparently didn't see or care to see, so who knows what that says.

While I'm at it, this is a great example of why we want to fix the rules and make them clearer/less abusable. You're desperate enough to latch onto the most far-field thing to try to a prove a point when other things have been refuted. Just do as we ask for the time being.

 No.3642

I don't really see this as being a very big issue. Personally, I don't like loli, but don't have an issue with people posting it. Having people spoiler those images seems like I great idea in my mind. I don't have to look at it and people can still post it. Honestly it seems like a win-win. And the difference between something like candles and horses compared to loli is that the amount of people offended by that is, almost undoubtedly, smaller than those offended by loli. And again, I agree that people should be able to post it, but what's he big deal with spoilering it?

To clarify, I am not the most active user, but do care deeply for the site. This perfectly crosses my deep love for Yume Nikki with my love for image boards. In fact this was one of the first sites I ever found when I began playing Yume Nikki for the first time. It was love at first site! I have been using this site on and off since then. It's probably been 7 some years since then. Recently I decided to play Yume 2kki and here I am.

Yes it is true we don't want the wrong crowd here (the type offended by everything) but I don't think we're very close to that. All it is is a spoiker, and I think it's also very true that loli can put off certain users, especially newer or younger ones, in the worst possible way. I mean, it doesn't really add anything to the site does it?

 No.3643

>>3642
>younger ones
What do you mean? Are eighteen year olds really that fragile? In retrospect, I probably overreacted. I regret trying to brag about anything. I'm also probably too dependent. Truth be told, I do want a walled garden, but I don't see why that's a bad thing. Do I hate, "younger people"? For the most part, yeah. Everything is terrible now and there has to be some reason for it.

I don't know what course of action to take now. I could start posting spoliered stuff in mass. I do that for ten years, any hypothetical new user will eventually click on one, and if they have that disposition, be put off and leave. Writer and gang will probably change the rules soon enough to keep me from doing that. Other option is stop posting. I know how dead this place can get. YN is getting less and less revlevant with every year. Tranlations and fangames can only keep things sputtering for so long.

This has been a long time coming, and I've noticed the problem getting worse and worse. Moderation of images has been getting excessive and overbearing. I'm going to try to be as civil as possible, and what I ultimately want is mutual understanding.

According to the rules posting
>guro, gore, or shock porn
is disallowed. What is defined as guro or shock porn however, seems to be getting interpreted more and more liberally over time. Here's some examples. Around last Christmas, I posted this image right here and it was deemed perfectly fine, for reference.
>>>/hikki/4219
A bit after that, I posted this image
https://img.booru.org/guro//images/18/815db7fd858565cba685ba4d7674a9aad186cfcb.jpg
and it was deleted. This post is not guro, it does not have a dead body in it. They aren't even being suffocated. There's just a little piss. I would argue that it does not at all fall under the umbrella of, "shock porn". Shock porn has traditionally been used for stuff like goatse, lemon party, and shitting dick nipples: stuff with zero sex appeal for anybody under any circumstances, which this clearly differs from.

The biggest issue I have however, has to do with loli. I've posted loli in the past, and even recently here
>>>/fg/13936
For the most past, it's been fine, but the noose has been feeling tighter and tighter.
At one point I posted a picture of a loli hanging herself, and despite it containing no nudity and not being pornographic in the slightest, or even showing a face, it was deleted. I don't want to be accusatory, but this really seems like a case of mod moral faggotry. I'm sorry, it just does. I dare say a picture of a man hanging himself would not be deleted.

You can still post DFC, nobody is impeding you from that. I didn't ban you for >>>/fg/13936 or delete the image, I have only deleted unspoilered guro or /v/ type "panic spam" (as I call it) where you posted a barrage of porn, unspoilered guro and loli alike, (usually with the 4 image limit reached) in the middle of an enraged post.

I can refrain from deleting images if that's what you would want, but do mind that it's not really the images that matter, it's the context of the post and how it interacts with it. The 1m "no loli" ban that (probably) triggered the creation of this thread was a placeholder ban.
To be honest and completely transparent, I was probably going to ban you for a day for unnecessary shitflinging spanning multiple threads but I thought about it and I decided to give you a chance and see if you would cause ruckus in another thread in the future.

As for the individual examples you pointed out, the one on /hikki/ you linked is too lite (mainly due to the artstyle), as for the other one, asphyxiation and BDSM isn't really mainstream anymore, neither is a golden shower, which is /d/ stuff. That interpretation of "shock" might differ from mod to mod, but to be completely frank, I'm the only active mod aside from sei who comes to check in from time to time.
Call me die fuhrer or literally Hitler but I'm trying to be lax. Feel free to be angry and fuck some shit up, it's an imageboard and the world is your oyster, but don't do it to the point where it drowns out threads ( >>>/hikki/5143 for example. The incel /r9k/ frogette would leave in no time after getting no attention ). And self-moderation in the form of sage bombing and posting lolis/guro is kind of a meme, believe me on that one, I tried. A polite disagreement or a no way fag is often better to a crusade.
TL;DR: It's not about the means of reproduction its about the friends you made on the way.

>You can still post DFC
Explain the last deletion then. Not shock porn(by any existing standards), not guro, not gore. Disliking how I utilize images and judging mod action based on that is what's the main issue here.
>/v/ type "panic spam"
Exactly where is that stated to be against the rules? I remember that post, nothing in it was particularly bloody. The issue is still with what exactly is defined as shock porn and guro.
>it's the context of the post and how it interacts with it.
Why? Why does this matter. How is a post somehow worse because it contains an image that also by itself wouldn't be deleted? How exactly does that make sense.?
>The 1m "no loli"
That had absolutely nothing to do with it. I didn't even notice it. Again, this has been a long time coming and I considered making this thread half a year ago.
>That interpretation of "shock" might differ from mod to mod, but to be completely frank, I'm the only active mod aside from sei who comes to check in from time to time.
This is extremely contrived and makes absolutely no sense. Piss play isn't mainstream huh? Loli isn't either, does that make it shock porn then? What about candle wax, that's not too mainstream either, does that also coint? I could go on and on. It's illogical.

Why do I think I know where you send your time outside of whenever you check into the board? Hmmmmm.

First of all, I'd like to apologize for insulting you personally. I didn't make this thread to piss the mods off or, "cause a ruckus", or anything like that.

You to keep in mind something else. Uboachan is the only site I use to interact with other people. Not social media, not leddit, not any other chan, and definitely not dickcord. It's my one site. Other than here I talk to people in real life. This is where I feel I can be really open. That's why it's so important to me. Before you say I could just use a porn site if I really want to look at loli or whatever, it's just part of the equation. An important part, but not the whole thing. Anybody that doesn't see how the rest of the internet is getting worse is a fool. It's like an infection of something and i'm feeling cornered. Ubuu is the corner.

If I really had to, I could come up with loopholes. Whenever making any thread, I could just put lewd in the subject box and say the thread has two topics, meaning anybody could post anything lewd and it would be, "on topic". That's not against the rules. I could also just make a general lewd thread and use cross-board posting to reply to anybody within that. I could come up with more if I really needed to. After all, that would just be my interpretation of the rules. I don't want to have to do that, i'm just saying this to prove a point.

 No.3577

There is already some posting in Japanese, and that shows that we have some Japanese speaking users, which is fine in itself. However, I think that people who are comfortable writing in English should prefer to do so, because it lets more people join in the conversation.

If suddenly there were a disproportionate number of threads in Japanese, it would bump threads off of the front pages which the majority of our users can participate in, and replace them with threads that only a small minority of our users can participate in, and that could be a problem.

In Sushichan a while back, there was an incident where suddenly one or two people started making a large number of new threads in Russian over a short time span, and I deleted the threads because I perceived it as a troll rather than a genuine attempt at having conversation. It was an uncomfortable decision, and made me feel a little racist. Suddenly having a huge number of Japanese threads happen would be a strange situation for me and the site, I'm sure, and I don't know exactly what I would really do. Since the Japanese language is so intertwined with our fanbase for obvious reasons, I would probably allow it, unless it became obvious that people were doing it to be intentionally disruptive to our English speaking majority, like I suspect with the Sushichan incident.

Edit: Basically, some threads in other languages are fine, because I am sure we have Japanese (and other) users who are not comfortable with English. However, it could be a problem if a minority language greatly displaces the majority language in discussion here.

If you need a month to be able to post, and you can't post until that month passes, you are in a loop such that nobody who hasn't ever posted in uboachan won't be able to do so, forever. It nullifies the whole point since you can't get new users.

>It would be even more effective if the attempted posts by these ips were visable, meaning you can preemptively ban them if they're spamming and/or ban evading

IPs are visible to mods and they can ban per IP, nothing new there.

Besides, not everyone has a static IP.
