Does anyone know of a video of a bunch of traffic signs jumping off the side of a building while a song is playing? In the video they had the sign "!" and the beat was like made in UTAU. It also had a style similar to Koronba and the lyrics I remember were in Japanese.

Dreamy Music

What music do you feel gives of a dreamy sound? Yume Nikki's OST is full of music that gives me that feeling, but what other songs can you think of like that?

Anyone enjoy bands that crossover genres to create a unique sound?

I for myself really enjoy Fail Emotions & Enter Shikari.

Fail Emotions is a clusterfuck. If i could define them with one single phrase "russian metal trance djent clusterfuck" it wouldn't even cut it.

Their first album has some good songs there and there but the formula is still rough so its a kind of cringefest.

Their 2 EP's, Gravity & Speed of Light smoothens out the cringey vague english lyrics a bit and adapts a better sound.

Their most recent album, Renaissance, just says, "fuck it" and goes for a way more metal / djent approach compared to Transfornation & Speed of Light/Gravity. It has a way more metal sound, with electronic elements still there and there.
Overall i consider it the best album of them, and i would reccomend it to a first time-listener.

Then there is Enter Shikari, which is a really good band. They (like Fail Emotions) combine Metal with Electronic aspects, although not to the same extremes as the former.
Take to the Skies is really great.
Common Dreads is a gem.
Flash Flood of Colour is also amazing.
The Mindsweep is eh.

I fucking love Yellow Submarine. It's definitely one of my favorite films. So many parts of it are incredibly reminiscent of Yume Nikki. Next there’s the highly underappreciated SUBLIMINAL album, and there really isn’t much to it, compared to 24 Effects. But! this has two quality vocal tracks from Chie Fukami(RUN GIRLS RUN) and b(NEVERMORE). The rap is kind of weird though.

Lastly (for now), there’s a fan album from Finland! It made a few rounds when it released, but it mostly went unnoticed. Jahvey’s popular ‘keeping track remix’ is here, and the rest of the album is quite solid. My personal favorite is Jahvey’s ‘from page 1 remix’ but that’s mostly because I’m sold when a guitar track like that is involved, regardless of whether it’s synth or real.

IAmA Pradius AMA

Hi I've been getting requests to teach people how to make music, or how to use FL Studio or whatever over the years and I've kept putting it off, but I figured I might as well do something instead of ignoring it. I'm not going to assume I'm the best producer on ubuu, but I may be able to help with people just starting out or people looking for tips regarding composition or engineering. I've been making music for ~6 years so I'd say I'm fairly qualified at this point.

Right now I'm working on two separate projects, a soundtrack for a visual novel and a nu-jazz/instrumental hip hop album. I come from IDM and bass music but I've touched on a lot more genres than that. I consider composition my strongest point although people tell me my mixes more often than not come out clear which is probably the most important thing in mixing/mastering.

Monoko's Theme rearrange

This music is a remix version of Yume Nikki's soundtrack for one of its character, Monoko(モノ子). The idea to remix this music came when I rewatch a 'Let's Play Yume Nikki!' video.

Basically, the original music is kalimba beat only. No melody, harmony, etc. So It's pretty confusing at first, but somehow I made it. I think this remix version has a 'Touhou' feel pretty damn much(since currently I am working on a Touhou arrange album too haha)

MIDI Thread

I created a few songs in Anvil Studio a few years back, and though most are lost, I still hold 2 that I'm very proud of.

This one I called Walking Fight because it was a dichotomy between basic elements of music, and it starts off violent and dissonant, and then connects. The three tracks switch roles, and also the signature changes.

There's an intentional space in the filename: select the whole thing. And the websites one I made even longer ago, wrote it in notepad for a senior project in HS.

Hiya! So I hope this is the right board for this and whatnot, but ANYWAY.

So I'm an amateur electronic musician and for the month of September I'm going to be challenging myself to create a simple ambient song every day. The end goal is going to be putting an album up on Bandcamp and letting Yume Nikki fangame makers know that they can use the tracks in their games if they so wish.

Now, here's where you guys come in: I'm also taking requests. So if you need a track, or maybe even two, for your game, let me know! All I need to know is if you want the song to loop (Which is a good idea unless you want to use the song as a credits theme), what kind of instruments you'd like to see used, a description of the area it'll be used in would be nice for me, and maybe even what emotion you want the song to evoke. Anything to help me create the perfect song for you, right?

Three things to keep in mind. 1 I've never made a good piano melody or chords or anything, if it's piano I probably suck at it. 2 I usually have a hard time making my songs happy. 3 And I'm even new to the whole looping aspect of songs so I might mess up there! Of course you shouldn't let any of this stop you from requesting any of this stuff, these are just my personal downfalls. If you want me to challenge myself, go for it, that's what this is all about, right?

Apparently it's a software that adjusts the brightness/color of your screen depending on the time of day. This way when it's late your computer screen won't completely kill your eyes, as well as fool you into thinking you're not tired because of the brightness of your screen. Just plug in your coordinates and go. You even have the option for a slow transition so it's not so sudden.

The orange color was a little annoying at first, but it really does seem to help my eyes. The only problem with it is that if you want to uninstall it you have to manually get rid of all the registry keys and program files since the uninstall doesn't do jack shit. That and there can be some issues with fullscreen programs like Yume Nikki/fangames, though there's an option to disable it for an hour.
It's definitely a good idea though.

I need a track for a project (StarCraft Brood War mapmod) I am working.

Absolute requirements:
-instrumental (vocalists are fine, intelligible English is not)
-dark

General qualities necessary:
-very dark
-very depressing
-filled with despair
-makes you want to kill yourself
-needs to have a bit of weight behind it, can't be entirely softly played piano (might except). This is for an action RPG like Demon's Souls or Dark Souls. ← very important

ALTERNATIVELY/ALSO NEEDED:
-extremely freaky, in the sense that something is going wrong
-to elaborate, I need something that can be played over you watching your own father kill your mother. Or, something that can be played over you watching yourself kill your girlfriend/boyfriend while blinded by anger/rage.

I don't really care too much about genre this time, as long as it fits the bill. Speed isn't too much of an issue - it can be fast or slow paced. Fast paced /might/ be preferable.
