Might be a bit YN inspired, but aside of that has the approach of "diving into the secrets of an art gallery".
Looks interesting, I might play it later today and take some screenshots.
Oh nice, I was about to post a thread on this but you've made a nice thread already. :3
Anyway, this game seems really interesting, I'll have to try it out soon.
So apparently there are 3(4) endings which are all kinda unnerving to me.
Also I really liked the mix of puzzles and "oh shit its behind me". Reminded me a bit of Ao Oni, but with less ridiculusly complicated/hidden things.
All in all I really liked it both story as well as gameplay wise.
I will play this tonight. It looks like fun
This thing looks pretty neat. Nice find!
I definitely plan on checking this out when I have some more time to do so.
I got to the part with all the lady paintings and locked doors, after the skull hallway… and got the passwords… and now I am stumped?
Can you take a screenshot of the room in question as well as tell me which episode it was? (Episode shows at the loading screen)
Thank you, I was looking for a fix.
In the left room, push around the table.
Solution:push it straight left
Thank you. Out of curiosity, how were you supposed to get that? Was it hinted in the sign with words missing or anything?
that's where I was stuck too lol.
guys, i'm stuck…
i don't know what to do, after i gave the snake the eve back in the room after the sorrowing couple…
there's a dropped painting that sayd "Behind the big tree"
and in the maze all it says is that i have to go to the right and i have to go to the south of a red painting…. WHICH RED PAINTING? WHICH BIG TREE? ;n;
i'm stuck, halp!
there's a tree inside a room a little ways back. it's kind of out of the way, to the right I believe? walk behind the tree and search it and I'm sure you'll figure out what to do with what you find there right away
To get to the room with the tree near the saving book you'll have to complete the maze. But it doesn't say "red painting", you may want to read that again :3>>963
I'm not sure, I just randomly did it right the first time. :0
By the way, I've had 6 ends now; which seems to be all, but I still feel like there are more possibilities on how to finish. I don't know for sure though.
I'm still lost. I didn't understand you.
Can you upload a screenshot of the big tree or the red paint?
>>968the other guy was right, I forgot that in the maze in the top screenshot you just posted there, there's a hidden switch. the "red paint" is the red shit on the ground in there. find the southern dead end in there, flip switch, and gtfo. a room will be unlocked, I believe with a window by it? the tree is inside. take what you find behind it to the bride
boy I hope that spoiler tag woiks
just finished it.
I got the Mary and Ib go to the cafe ending.
Just got the Ib All Alone Ending
What did you guys do to get the Garry endings? First time I took Garry's Lighter and got Ib and Mary. Do you still have to find out that Mary is a work?
the endings guide for those who want to get the other ones.
massive spoilers ahead:http://vgperson.tumblr.com/post/20883951250/ib-endings-guide
I just finished getting all the endings today. Oh man this game is amazing. Definitely a must try. I have to ask though ( not sure if this is the right place to ask sorry if it isn't sdjfdj), but are there any other games like Ib?
Uhh, I knew there had to be an ending with gary~
And replaying another time :3
the first ending i got was a glitch ending :/ … and i had to replay it to avoid the all alone one
Also, what the fuck do I do with Ib's tree key? I see there's a sapling picture above one of the doors in the violet area. But how do I transport it there?
Wait, I managed to figure things out. I'm off to finish this game now.
the "Ib manual.txt" file says "If the "moving storybook" does not work properly, replace Map0028.lmu with the file in the VideoPatch folder."
did you try that?
That worked. Thanks!
I've been getting this too. My system locale's in Japanese, so it displays the right characters for the "missing" sprite, but I can't copy the text to rename it.
If you read the manual it would have told you your system needs to be in English.
Here's an odd request from the author of Ib (considering how game copyright issues have been brought up on Ubuu lately)…
Gameplay videos are okay as long as there are no "excessive spoilers". Yet, the guidelines also say that there is no problem showing the endings
. So I'm not sure what the author means by "excessive spoilers."
But fangames aren't allowed.
Also, if people don't follow these rules, the author will disallow all gameplay videos and fanworks entirely.http://kouri.kuchinawa.com/rule.html
this game needs totally an fangame.
I will do it.
after i finished my other fangame.
but then suddenly lol.
fangame not allowed.
(google translator OTL)
One point, as the creation secondary issue I have absolutely NG, "except that I have produced Ib games, >>making games and stories related to the character of Ib<<" is prohibited.
means this we should not do fangames with the characters of Ib?
but allowed to make games like Ib with other characters and stories?
Sounds like it, yeah. A game that simply imitates the art style and format (the "LcdDem" approach) would be okay, but a game that uses the original work's characters (the "Houchou Shoujo Gensou-kyoku" approach) would not be okay.
Yeah I just don't like things chasing me, also Junji Ito kinda ruined me for headless statues ;w;>>1091
lulz oh you
At least you have hit points in Ib. In most other "datsuge" (脱ゲー, escape horror games) made with RPG Maker or WOLF (Ao Oni, Zuruzuru-san, Devil Plug-In, Death Game, Sukuttee, etc.), you usually get killed in one hit.
>Ao Oni, Zuruzuru-san, Devil Plug-In, Death Game, Sukuttee, etc.
Never heard of those, besides Ao Oni. Any of those worth playing, in your opinion?
If these kinds of games are your cup of tea, then yeah, knock yourself out. Many of the Japanese channels I've subscribed to on YouTube have Let's Play/jikkyou videos of those.
Zuruzuru-san = ずるずるさん
Sukuttee = スクッテー
I forgot three more big ones: The Hero's Escape Game (勇者の脱出ゲーム), DoLL, and Doraemon: Nobita's Resident Evil (ドラえもん：のび太のBIOHAZARD). There are many more, I think.
Nice, thanks for the info. Definitely gonna look into those when I have the chance.
I think
the blue dolls were what they really were, and Ib was the one hallucinating them as rabbits. Mary's just really weird and thinks the creepy blue dolls are cute
Sorry. accidentally used the formatting of another board.
I love playing Ib, seriously. It’s addicting and makes my heart jump at times… in a good way, I think.
However, I am frustrated to no end because when I meet Garry for the first time, the game crashes and an incessant error window that says “not implemented” appears. I can’t advance further because of this.
I’ve looked up on some possible solutions, but no luck. Has anyone experienced this or something similar? Even in window mode, there is no change. Oh God, someone please tell me there’s a way to fix it ;A;
try video fix
and are you in japanese or english locale?
Oh, I managed to fix it. Decided to use System Restore when I realised the same error arose even by trying to start a new game; that meant it wasn’t the game’s problem but my computer’s, since it’d been working fine before. Must’ve been because of a recent driver update I installed.
Thanks a lot for your help!
I just finished this in one go… so good. I wasn't exactly happy about the ending, though…
Did you get all the endings? Cause it's got 5 different endings.
Five!? I only got two… ;-; Is there a walkthrough or anything?
…Nevermind. x.x I looked at the rest of this thread and found one. D'oh.
I beat this game without a walkthrough (except to get an ending I couldn't figure out) or any kind of help for the puzzles… I'm so glad! It's quick but so fun and cute and askdhasd I love Ib and Garry.
Just a question, though. Anybody got an explanation for Ib's strange name? Does it mean something? Or is it a common name in Japanese?
It sounds like "Eve" (イヴ) is misspelled as "Ib". Considering the surreal nature of this game, this spelling may or may not be intentional weirdness.
The ib was also the "heart" portion of the soul in ancient Egypt
I have already played through more than once, but I can't remember where you get any of the keys for the Sketchbook Area. Could anyone help me? Even if it is just a screenshot with a spoiler slapped on it.
… so, I've only played this game once. And I'm afraid to go back and do this… but, at what point can Garry die at?
… when's that yo
There's a one thing that's being bothering me…
<spoiler> I've seen lots of pictures of a Garry painting in fanarts. Is it true that it exists in the game? If so, where can I see it and when?</spoiler>
Yup, it can be found in the game. It's at the end of the "Forgotten Portrait" ending. If you need info on how to get that, check the Ib endings guide, which was linked earlier in this topic.
Also, spoilers on Uboachan are done with double asterisks before and after the message. It's listed in the "FAQ" section at the top, if anyone forgets, or needs an example.
but then how can you nest
I think it's shit and you should stop trying to ruin 2 separately great games by forcefully trying to pull them together.
Sounds silly. Nothing in Ib hints at it being related to Yume Nikki in any way.
It possible that it's partially inspired by it, but even that would be a rather large assumption to make.
the themes of the two games don't match well… and there's also the matter of ib being named ib and madotsuki being named… madotsuki.
This game is overflowing with horror cliches, its atmosphere vanishes upon the joining of Mary and PLOT TWEESTS are obvious from a mile away.
Indeed I did not think that the game was particularly scary, especially after Mary joined.
But for some reason I love Mary and I had fun voicing her poorly in my let's play like this:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JInrAQrBoUs
Gotta say I laughed a bit.
I'm not sure why the game had to be so full of bad ends. I'm kind of sad now.
pretty much any SNES game
Seconding Live-A-Live. I had a chance to play it when I was younger (13 or 14 or so) but didn't, and when Aeon Genesis released the second and muchly improved version of their translation patch last year-ish I decided to give it a go and immediately wanted to kick my younger self for missing this gem.the ninja chapter sucks dick
I'll admit it has dated graphics for a late SNES game though.
For anyone who had problems with the storybook, you can fix it by changing the movie's codec to Xvid and setting the resolution at 640x480. Just figured this out, cause I was tired of having to skip it!
It's not the version, it's the sprite. Are you playing on a laptop? Is your graphics card built-in? If so, nothing can help you.
I beat the game in the same conditions as yours on my laptop, though.
NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM 3
You can choose to simultaneously create a new folder while unraring the file into it.
Pic related, choose the option with a slash at the end.
As for the error, I'unno. Never had any problems with my Ib. I got it from VGboy's (the translator's) website.
Every time I get to the part where you first get your rose, the game starts to lag a lot when Ib walks, does anyone know how to fix this?
If it's a laptop, no.
>>1489>wanting sequel on an archetypical "Meet again" ending
While I liked Ib, I think a sequel would kind of ruin things honestly.
I did see a cute video of Ib and Garry's hypothetical reunion on YouTube though. They ate macarons at a cafe and painted pictures at the park.
Hey, I'm sorry about using up your time, but I've encountered a terrible issue. I just downloaded Ib, but every time I try to start playing my screen turns completely black and the only way to make my computer work again is forcing a restart.
I'm running a Windows 7 32bit version, and I followed the instructions in the manual thoroughly. Please help me, I really want to play this game.
Thanks in advance
I love this game.
Learned how to play "Doll" from the OST, all that's left is getting a fingerpick.
>together forever ending>>1820
That shouldn't happen, try reinstalling.http://www.mediafire.com/?g32xzro2hzua5o3
I dont know really,
but I would like a sequel or well a spin-off, but dont
have to be related to any ending of the original game, and with anothers protagonist.
Because I really want to see new "arts" to explore, with new characters to know.
Ver. 1.05 releasedhttp://vgboy.dabomstew.com/other/ib.htm
It’s really just a bunch of bugfixes, though. Nothing to get excited about. Also, saves from 1.04 will work.
Changes:>Garry won’t comment on the Liars’ Room unless you actually do it.>You can no longer save as solo Mary, since you’re locked onto an ending you can’t continue from.>When on a second playthrough, the portraits for the save files have a + in the corner. For old saves, this will only take effect when Ib, Garry, and Mary first join (Ib “joining” when you get an ending).>The new dungeon is a little easier; there are more vases (one at the start, and a second in Abyssal Park… if Garry’s dead), and the croquis room has one less red guy and no stools to get in the way.>There are pamphlets in the true exhibition explaining New Game Plus and stuff.>The music list in the true gallery is fancier-looking now.>Some things that got left out of the true gallery were added, including a very special guest.
Lastly, kouri confirmed he has no plans for any further updates.
