>>16456>it wasn't posted in Collective Unconscious' actual Discord server, it's from Collective Unconscious' channel on YNOProject's DiscordSo maybe we can't expect something to happen, right? So the general gist is that there's huge hype over an update to CU that led right into… this drama. I didn't see that coming, but then I'm thinking QoL improvements to a YNFG that felt similar to 2kki's in terms of big open world. I mean, I don't mind being patient, but life's full of ups and downs.
>>16452As for the source I explained earlier? Here it is:
https://www.tumbig.com/blog/worminnat-truther No.16461
>>16458Ok, that was silly. NacreMoon's joking, of course! They're like, "We're happy to announce CU V0.3.0 is coming out, who's hyped for it?" actually.
On the other hand, I checked Google for the ref but nothing came about. Hopefully the Spirit World will grow… and no jokes will stand in the way!
Hope you enjoy the rest of your day, Sage and co.!

>>16483It's here, 0.3.0 is real!
Since there's no version history for this yet, I'll go over a few things, not a lot:
>The first time you launch CU, you now get the language option first, then the main menu>The teleport from Spiral Limb Passage to Glass Shards Path was given a colourful makeover>The door to Patinaed Tile Path now has a fixed doorknob (credit to jspecter)>There's a new menu theme in Twisted Chess Void (credit to jspecter)>You can now return to ghost village from paper plains (credit to kinoseidon)update:
New maps if you want a look-see:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-ja5dcgIIl6Gi1ZDkAhZXyVE6sO32L_5FR3CG_AHido/editBody Bog got re-released but not Orchid Haven after that GOD-AWFUL 16 July 2024 update, while the Shadow Sentinel event should be fixed (I mean, working properly without "unknown event" ids).
Will there be a archived copy of this out in the wild, too?
:P
No.16488
>>16484It looks like a fine update. Too bad for me that the website won't work on my phone.
I wonder if the same anon who shared the first build is around to scrape off the last.
This build now has online-only variables, so you'd have to edit the game to support some features. Hopefully it diverges more and becomes an actual MMOynfg. It's only just exciting.
Bit of a shame we could lose a lot of history. They've already silently patched this version once or twice. Although I doubt even hardcore fans would want "the same version but with softlocks".
No.16492
Some "assets" have been "passing around", so as long as at least one of those people are willing to use and share it, we hopefully won't be missing anything. If only the devs weren't so hush-shush, it could have been a lot nicer than this.

>>16488What kind of variables are these for this build? One of these is a global timer that people pointed out in the chat logs, eg. getting the Wandering Together event is now affected by this new feature in contrast to the Variable 30 in previous builds. If so, how will that be fixed in the YNFG archives? Could you contact the CU devs via Discord for more information?
>>16489>Outside of the YNFG wiki, information is extremely sparse on many games excluding actual gameplayThere's
https://yume.wiki/unconscious/Collective_Unconscious_Wiki if you want a look. Recently, new content was added as of 0.3.1 so some of the pages look pretty barebones.
>>16493Same as archiving the recent versions.
>>16211Going on a different tangent here, had anybody noticed both games ran on the EasyRPG emulator and work seamlessly? I wish it worked with other games like .flow on the fly. Don't mind me, I'm just asking.
Here's a screencap of a couple of new things in CU.

No.16548
>>16539Have you tried Collective Unconscious out recently? The devs had been helpful with directions for me on how to get to areas within Cosmic Woods and Blood Drive and are friendly. The game had got a huge update regarding new maps, creators, bugfixes and more, and personally, I've enjoyed this YNFG as I delved into its many mysteries.
In fact, it's not a game, but an innovation, like most YNFGs.
>LCD DEMI found a browser version of this YNFG on itch.io but Collective Unconscious is like a love letter to YNFGs IMO. Take care and have a nice day!

>>16602I think his point is just like, don't put these games on a pedestal as if they were the second coming of Christ
"Innovation" my ass
No.16633
Well, if anything, these "Yume Nikki reskins" innovate too much, while somehow failing to deliver that same surreal and eerie atmosphere that hooks you when you're playing original Nikki. And yeah, I guess this game wins no points there either.
No.16647
>>16549Well, maybe it is the case, and maybe it's not.
Anyway I found this:
https://yume.wiki/unconscious/Soundtrack/MiscellaneousI found that Gateway World was removed - maybe this world was a dummied-out concept? I have no clue on this at all.
However, I found this on
https://yume.wiki/index.php?title=Collective_Unconscious%3ASoundtrack%2F300-399&type=revision&diff=532052&oldid=512781Tracks #366 (orchidmantis_eternal_shore) and #367 (orchidmantis_hometown) got replaced by those from Optical Offices in the recent update because the removed maps are being reworked for a future update to CU. This isn't right, both Optical Offices tracks should be labelled as track no. #562 and #563 in the sound test. I know I'm bringing this "missing map problem" again but this needs to be something that CU devs should address, sorry.
In short, if somebody's reworking on removed maps SURELY something shouldn't replace their OSTs in the future?
Ugh
No.16670
>>16647This is the same with Gateway World's music (#39 in the sound test). However, I contacted chat about what happened to Gateway World, but to no avail so far.
So, as stuff is being worked on, I have a few suggestions for CU in a future update:
- Sound test (megaphone) to have archived OSTs, which you can unlock with certain conditions (because worlds that have some music can't be accessed ATM eg. Orchid Haven due to a rework)
- Sound test to always have new tracks at the end of the library (as explained in the previous post)
No.16676
>>16670Also I forgot one more thing. The other day, I tried Uncanny World's Fourth Wall Break Event with the Imago effect, but sadly it would only accept those from the release build (eg. Soulfire and Youth). I want the devs to patch that one out, so all effects work with the event.
https://yume.wiki/unconscious/Uncanny_World#Fourth_Wall_Break_Event never mentioned it, of course, but I saw it happen. Could anybody answer my recent questions please?
Thanks - hopefully you'll get some sleep tonight. Peace out
No.16680
>>16676It was one room from a WIP world that was removed, so they replaced the track too. I dont have a clue why they would replace instead of wait, but it does seem like the safer option, considering they might have permanent removals in the future.
No.16686
>>16680Thank you so much for finally getting me to the bottom of this. Anyways, via changlogs I found out that:
- there was a Luigi effect (don't know how people obtained it)
- there's some worlds yet to be added in-game, from the changelogs the names are:
>ClownTown>Envelope World>Dino Passage>Clearvision World>Light Rain>AlteredNormalSpiralR (Altered Normal Spiral Recursion)>Pleasant OutskirtsMost of them are from witblos, who created Waning Light and Hostile Love Abyss. Hopefully we can see new stuff being implemented this summer; any thoughts dreamers?

No.16703
>>16702I also thought that it marked the anniversary of the classic Yume Nikki, too! This was interesting as there was a party hat visage you dreamers could've collected and a radio (which plays the main treehouse theme) that can be turned on and off.
In a way, that was an awesome way to celebrate the creation of YNOProject's project! Take care people ;)
No.16864
Thoughts are there's going to be an update on CU soon about a month
No.16871
>>16867Same for me and the other people here, too! I have been checking some of the changelogs for CU V0.3.0 for worlds that may be implemented in future updates… again.
Another world I've found in the docs is Weevil Function, mentioned by Raptarr8.
Anyway, there used to be the Luigi eidolon/effect within BlackMamba's worlds before it was removed as of Ver. 0.3.0. I tried going on Yume.wiki but it kept fetching 504 errors on my end. Does anyone know how to get it in V.0.1.0 (the release build)? Thanks in advance!

Hi dev here, leaking shit. Not too hard to figure out who.
CU update is taking a bit due to the large volume of worlds, visages, songs, and wallpapers being added, the management is planning on restructuring the update cycle and or adding/restructuring the management team due to burnout and heavy workloads. That all being said, theyre doing online tests at the moment

I thought an update happened every season though, but I am still eager for new CU content (like a lot of you are!). Stay safe out there, wanderers ;)

what's the appeal of this game again when 2kki already has westabrappers contributing to it?
No.17072
>>17070I was about to say better quality control, but after seeing some of shit that got added in 0.3.0 I'm not sure anymore
No.17073
>>17072I've played it before that and it still reeked of some of the worse parts of western art sites. Edgy deviant art OCs, tumblerina aesthetics, etc etc.
Not to mention a huge chunks of the worlds revolved around liminal spaces/backrooms vapid fad that was prevalent a few years ago which makes the game look both super outdated and identity lacking, all this without adressing the obvious inspiration from classic 2kki worlds among other crap like one of the lead devs stealing assets from better fangames.
I'd heard it was a fangame made by the people that played YNO exclusively and it really shows, compare this garbage to the fangames of people that worked on 2kki and then went on to make their own projects like the creator of Yume Nisshi or Lcd Dem
The Madotsuki clone protagonist this time around also has a really run of the mill design that uses the red eye motif another protagonist already had and steals everything else from that ugly bitch from that shitty Milk inside bag of Milk game.
No.17078
>>17073Liminal spaces are a scourge upon the Yume Nikki Fan Games space. I've seen it effect 2kki as well. Everyone drawing from the same single pool of inspiration that everyone's seen instead of something unique to them is no good.

>>17073>The Madotsuki clone protagonist this time around also has a really run of the mill design that uses the red eye motif another protagonist already had and steals everything else from that ugly bitch from that shitty Milk inside bag of Milk game. I've always thought that Minnatsuki's design felt a tad lacking, and it's vindicating to see someone else feel the same. Personally my biggest issue with her is that her coloration feels too uniform. I’d make her hair a different color like dark red, and lighten her skirt a bit. Making the messiness of her hair more pronounced would do wonders too, like making some bits of it spike out from the sides and top as some pieces of fanart do. Giving her a more original insignia would also help, no doubt, but I’m not sure what I’d replace the eye with, maybe one of the blue curly symbols from her room’s totem.
Admittedly, part of me feels somewhat snobbish for trying to “fix” someone else’s creation, especially as a guy who wants to make a fangame of his own at some point and could very well face similar criticisms. At the same time, the dissatisfaction I found with her has been nagging at me for ages and I figured this was as good a time as any to say it.
No.17084
>>17082Thought your suggestions were interesting so I tried putting them in sprite form. I never liked how she had these very minute details like the plaid skirt that were just impossible to see, and I'm not too fond of the eye either but I'm not sure what to do with it really. Anybody's free to edit.
Good luck on making that fangame btw!
No.17085
>>17084That's delightful! Pretty much how I envisioned she should look, minus the symbol. I might see if I can tinker with it myself to add in one of the totem symbols. Thanks for doing this and thank you for the good luck wishes!
