Captchas didn't work. Sticking to janitors while we try to think of something else.

Is this site still alive? Does anybody know anything about this game called "hitori"? It's very similar to Yume Nikki, thought I wouldn't call it a fangame.
There is a single video on Selfish Dream youtube channel about this game, and literally no other information about it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyc_sNCgpY4
Who is the creator? Where is his website? How can I compete the game?
Link to the game is somewhere in the comments to the video above

Virustotal just doesn't like RPGM compressed files.

Just play the game. It's stylistically slick and well made, making use of RPGM 2003 in ways I've never seen before.

Be aware that the game will give you no indications on controls or what an area entrance looks like. No spoilers on any of the areas, but know that you can interact with certain object not just with the up/down arrow keys, but also by pressing z when beside them.

The atmosphere, maps and music are really nice. It is progression-based rather than open exploration, but it's done without any *you hear a distant door unlock* bullshit. It feels as if you're openly exploring a world that slowly unravels itself.

Translating dev's tweets:

Releasing a mysterious game. To play, please install RPGMaker 2003 RPT. (I've left a link in the readme file)

Please download the game from here. The previous Google drive link doesn't work anymore.

I've released an update with some bug patches. Please overwrite these files on top of the original ones.

After attempting to load a game, there is a bug where the (ingame computer) desktop background will be black, and you'll be placed into what seems to be an empty save file.
(The youtuber >>14266 ran into this bug)
If this happens, just reload your save file again. (May be in a different save slot.) In the bugged state, it's probably not a good idea to save the game.

You can always run the game in a virtual machine if you want to be extra safe.

All things considered, unless the developer is actually evil or got a kickback for including spyware, those are very likely false positives.

Not with that missingtexture checkerboard garbage you see in every fangame.

The checkerboard isn't a missing texture.

Since it's been around a year and I still love this game I'll give it a bump. I'll also summarise the above thread into a post.

Hitori plays like an exploration game in the vein of Oimostfonwy: discovering lonely alleys and buildings to find the atmosphere of night in a Japanese suburban sprawl.

I've put the base game and the bug patch into the above. But if you want to download them separately, try

People got scared because virustotal gave false positives, even though virustotal is known not to like RPGmaker zipfiles. Even Yume Nikki gets a few false calls.

I don't know why, but I might be the only person who's played and really loves this game.
