I just finished watching Zeni Geba since I couldn't read the complete manga. Japanese acting is FUCKING TERRIBLE really different, but I still cried at the end.
I'm also watching Guren Onna as part of my ~NIhongo studiES~ Super Special S-Rank No Subtitles Mode Plus Extra; Part 2: Going Native. Since it's a comedy, the acting really works with it.

ive only watched like 7 episodes of legal high, but it's cute. i dunno what to tackle after this though, it's fun watching a form of media im not used to.

Dunno, I really can't get past the hammy acting. Japanese actors just have this way of looking stiff, lifeless and amateurish,it must be some kind of societal standard.

Japanese acting is disgusting. In general, I find it even more disturbing in comedies.

Kou Kou Kyoushi 2003 is the only drama I'd recommend 100%. It has its flaws - quite a lot of them actually -, but I find the main story fascinating. And at least the acting of two main characters are great.
(You don't need to watch Kou Kou Kyoushi 1993 at all).

The only comedy I didn't drop was Kekkon Dekinai Otoko - it's ok. If you like melodrama Byakuyako is a must. Last Friends is passable. Aikurushii is nice if you enjoy familiar themes.

Trying korean dramas is another option. You have a wider range of drama, themes, and much better quality. The main problem is that they tend to be too long.
