Like I've been saying since 1989, everything is now poseur anime copping stories 'n' styles from the greats. New shows are watched by poseurs, loved by poseurs and should fuck off forever. What, were you born after 1976 and think you have an opinion? Haha, you baby cunt little twerp fuck off GTFO out of here with your baggy Naruto headband you Funimation fapping little bitch. How about you watch to some of your favorite moeshits like Strike Witches and Cardcaptor Sakura and eat pocky and write poems to your waifu. Haha, who cares? You think you're all manly and cool because you all just hit puberty in your 20's and can grow these red wispy bullshit grayless beards on your pizza-cratered little baby faces and you revere streaming, steaming trash like .hack as if it were the classics. You wouldn't know a classic unless Coca-Cola printed it on the bottle I want to break on your eyes and slash your throat with you impossible nerd. I oughta slap you so hard that your dumb snapback hat will never fit on your chicken-neck topping little dumb head again you Rei loving vagina. Fuck you.

>reboot is 100x better and original in production and writing

Maybe you should stop thinking every one of the 30+ anime a season will all be amazing and watch the good stuff. Good anime can still be made, but there's just so much being produced sometimes you miss it. Anime just got really popular and a huge cashcow. Japs just want money in the end after all.

Anything made after the Shouwa era isn't real anime. Even then, Shouwa era stuff is pushing it.

 No.783[Reply]

I was really excited about anime a year ago but that excitement seems to have ebbed. The last anime I got all the way through was Eva, and that was quite awhile ago. After that I started Serial Experiments Lain but my computer's fan died before I got all the way through it and by the time I got a new one I'd lost the interest the series built in me during the time I watched it. I know I'd love it but I don't know if I'll actually enjoy watching the rest of it now. Awhile after that I read a few manga series and they were enjoyable but they didn't do much to arouse serious interest in reading a lot of others.

It's like that with a lot of things for some reason, there are a lot of books I own I haven't gotten through simply because I stopped halfway through them to read something else or lost interest, and a lot of them are ones I know I'd like. I'm not sure what anime to watch, because the ones that sound really appealing are ones I usually get halfway through the first episode of and then either get bored or feel obligated to get through, which paradoxically kills my desire to watch the rest.

Are there many anime series which are interesting enough to grip you from the beginning? If so I'd appreciate hearing what they are.

There aren't too many good full length anime of either genre to begin with anyway. I'd guess that it'd be especially hard to make a 5 minute one.

yuasa is my favorite director for sure. If theres one thing I can say to help out people in OPs position, Id say look for the really creative stuff like this. Thats hard to explain what constitutes "creativity" but really, anime is best in its hidden gems. The kind of stuff that you hear of on a small imageboard by pure fucking chance and decide to look at it.

The same went for ultra heaven.

I don't think so. He may be somewhat pathetic, but he's someone who's brave enough to repeatedly put himself out there and try his best. He's the kind of person who never stops growing. I think that's something to look up to.

I cant remember the name but it was really good, I cried until I felt completely devoid of any and all liquids

Dude, c'mon, considering /n/ is x200 times worse than whatever booger does, I don't see what's bad with her posting whatever she wants.
If anything, it was funnier to see her posts than to read posers pretending to be neet/asocial/out-of-society-heroes attention-whoring just to read 2 seconds "no i actually go to college & im not virgin and i haev frends xd but im really depresed and want to kel meself".

I finally got around to watching this! It was beautiful!
I was almost an hour and a half into it when I got called down to dinner.
"Man, I was just watching the weirdest anime movie up there, mom! There's these cute cats on a train in space going to heaven, and there's lots of religious imagery, and the whole movie is really quiet and ambient and trippy."
"Is it dubbed?"
"Huh? Well, yeah I am watching it in English, why?"
"great! Sounds like my kind of anime. Put it on down here after we eat."
WOW. Mom actually ASKED to watch an anime, just because of the description. It was a little weird starting the entire movie over when I was near the ending, but it was cool that mom wanted to see it! She alternated between going "aww~", laughing and saying she would have liked to smoke weed while watching this movie if it was the 70's again, and saying "wait, this looks familiar…have I seen this before?". She sang along with the old cat lady when she started singing Hymn 306. It was a little creepy.

I had a nice night with this movie! It was very sad but very beautiful. It had the same haunting quality as Angel's Egg, but it was a lot more hopeful.

My mom's interest in these things comes and goes. Every once in a while she'll get an anime itch. But a lot of the time she gets annoyed if I talk about it too much. Sometimes after a glass of wine, she'll start saying things like "lets watch Mushishi, that Ginko guy is hot".

Underrated/Unpopular VNs that you enjoyed?

I quite enjoyed Aselia the Eternal.. it's the first VN I actually bought and it was pretty nice to play. Too bad about the cut h-scenes, though.

 No.894

I need to read more… all the ones I've read were recommended in their threads and I haven't really lurked that much as to pick one which qualifies as underrated or unpopular.

Also, what did you enjoy the most about Aselia?

 No.899

>>894
I liked the battles and the development of some of the characters. Aselia's relationship with the protagonist was especially interesting to watch develop over time.

It's a pretty long game (easily over 100 hours if you want to 100% it) but if you're fine with that, it's definitely a good play!

Eh, seems fairly nice. Now I don't have much time with college and other projects, but I'm putting it in my "Must play" list to check it out later.
