YNO was hosting Yume Nikki without Kikiyama's permission all this time just fine, and even japs didn't care much about it.

But now, some japs suddenly do, because how dare YNO host a game without permission from the creator who is known for having no communication with community whatsoever.

What happened?

exactly kikiyama has had jackshit interaction with anybody on the internet (outside of that infamous toby fox interview)
hell kikiyama could be spending all the time in the world touching grass every single day that they most likely don’t even give a shit about their game being “stolen” for a shitty multiplayer thing

if the japs actually succeed in getting yume nikki taken off of yno then everybody get your party poppers out

 No.11234

Why do some japanese seem to care so much about author's permissions and the like? I've noticed a few that get wildly bent out of shape acting like it's this huge transgression, like how someone threw a fit and made the 2kki wiki delete all music unless express permission from the creators was given.

The same mokq guy on Xitter was saying that japs treat piracy the same way westerners treat child diddlers.

Which is likely true, knowing how big of a headache the same guy gave me when he stir up massive drama around my funky website and my refusal to take down their artworks.

Maybe that's just their mentality or something, being overly polite and stuff, asking permission from everyone to do anything. The concept of fair use is like an alien technology for them. Bet they even afraid to fart without permission.

>Maybe that's just their mentality or something
That's their culture for ya. Not really about being polite. I understand that they value the concept of harmony, as in to follow the rules (of a social group) as is, as a means to achieve peace. The japs are also very VERY stingy about distributing copyrighted works. So mix the two together and you get this kind of response.
I bet : Remove the laws around piracy and wait a couple years, and they'll sing a different tune. literally.

I've received some annoying comments when i was reposting songs from some insignificant utau composers. the ones that deleted everything after making them. That's how I found out about it.

>The concept of fair use is like an alien technology

Kinda. Probably because they never had to be fucked in the ass by mega corps (until recently in history) to have the same attitude as us westerners about fair use and brands in general. People over in japan love their brands.

dem chineses should just relax, it's unfinished abandonware from 20 years ago that playism picked up to heavily monetize with "trust us bro" as proof of permission and everybody was cool with that. Nobody cares.

I think the only way YNO could actually implode is if they pulled 2kki from the site for good, but who knows maybe people complaining about Yume Nikki will lead to a domino effect ending with a bunch of other games getting taken off the site. After all, they can't get hosting permissions from EVERY 2kki dev, right?

knowing the nips I wouldn't be surprised if internal disputes festering among devs surrounding it's hosting was a shit bomb waiting to implode at any moment, specially after that weird meltdown over the wiki hosting the soundtrack of the game. And if it comes to that good riddance.

you guys are fucking miserable. ynop is a labor of love and helps to make a lot of fangames way more accessible. anyone wishing for its down fall is ontologically evil and should die

>ynop is a labor of love
Lots of mediocre things are, actually as shown by their eating each other alive I would argue this is not entirely true and for a bunch of them it's about popularity and spite.

>helps to make a lot of fangames way more accessible

That's just false, it does nothing the wiki or the archive don't already do and they do it better(more games, resources, and better organized), especially for projects like 2kki, .flow, AP(before the removal) and YN itself, as all of them are far more popular than YNO.

>anyone wishing for its down fall is ontologically evil and should die

If you are the average supporter of that project that just proves the whole thing is rotten to the core.
I sincerely hope Uboachan exercises its right to gatekeep its space and never lets this perpetually offended plague in.

nta but afaik YNO at least on 2kki directly implements the wiki for room naming/metadata and route finding, and the same crowd also votes on the naming of worlds for the wiki. I'm a newfag relatively speaking and I know the devs are sorta incompetent and trans coded with a lot of drama behind the scenes but I don't know exactly why you all hate it so much beyond it attracting normies to the fandom, I mean I feel without it the fangame scene would already be dead by now.
