Dear actual artists,

What is a good program to use for making this "pixel art"? I find it annoying to use Photoshop with a million times zoom so the pencil squares snap to a grid. Is there a better program for this, or should I just Deal W/It?

well, mspaint is pretty basic. its what i use for little for-shits-and-giggles sprites and such things.

i dunno about something more high quality. i know that SAI has a binary tool thats basically the MSpaint pencil tool with pen sensitivity and bigger sizes. SAI is not for pixel art though, its more just pixel-y outlines/colors.

tl;dr ms paint and technically paint tool sai

I like using GIMP, honestly. Use the Pencil tool, make sure tools you use with antialiasing (Eraser, select by color) have the option turned off so there aren't any transparent pixel.

Or MSPaint, though honestly the lack of layers and selection options makes it harder in my opinion.

Ahmmm…GraphicsGale? I heard that's a good program. And it's free.

It's a lesser-known bitmap editor, but it's really volatile.

Layer support, palettes, Animation support, nice UI- I mean you could buy Gale if you want (Or pirate it like normal people), but ASE does everything it does, and it's actively updated.

You can change how everything's automatically scaled x2 in the ini, by the way.

It can also double as a full image editor, it has the tools to support such things available. I'd just recommend you turn off the scaling if you use it like that.

It makes it really simple to do stuff like remove the background from this image so i can use it to shitpost to my heart's content. Who knows what I could use this magical image for once the background is transparent?
